China unveils its first elevator emergency response vehicle on June 2, 2018. [Photo/Xinhua] BEIJING - China has developed its first elevator emergency response vehicle, Science and Technology Daily reported Monday. Developed by a technology company in Qinhuangdao, North China's Hebei province, the vehicle is equipped with 18 monitoring devices. With spatial vector data acquisition technology and GPRS wireless communication, it can identify any maintenance issues with urban elevators and provide early warnings to increase elevator safety. Chen Zhonglin, president of the company, said when the vehicle drives along a road, it can receive information from all nearby elevators equipped with a black box, which holds key data and information about what is happening to the elevator. After analyzing operating data and finding any issues, the maintenance crew travelling in the vehicle can fix the problems. The vehicle also carries about 30 pieces of rescue equipment, including life-detection instruments, so that if it receives a distress signal, people trapped in the elevator can be rescued as soon as possible. In recent years, elevator accidents have occurred frequently and raised public concern in China. Li Shoulin, head of the National Elevator Inspection and Testing Center, said the vehicle is a breakthrough that could improve the efficiency of elevator emergency rescue. basketball silicone bracelets

[Photo/IC] BEIJING - China unveiled a plan on Thursday to resolve crucial environmental problems in rural areas to foster sound ecological environment. Jointly released by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the plan aims to facilitate green development, improve the ecological environment and strengthen environmental supervision in rural areas. The plan listed several measures of rural pollution control by 2020. It called for more efforts on drinking water protection in the countryside through accelerating research, monitoring and assessment of drinking water and identifying relevant reserves. Household garbage and wastewater should be treated to ensure a clean, neat and orderly countryside environment, said the plan. It is also required by the plan to reduce the use of chemical fertilizer and pesticide in farming and overall agricultural water consumption. Besides pollution control, the plan also advocated the improvement of agricultural waste recycling, environmental supervision and rural residents' participation of environmental protection.
